"I painted a different side of an iconic Catalina Island building this time. The Casino. I was walking up towards it from Descanso Beach one day after lunch and was enthralled by this viewpoint. Especially with the restored Pirate Ship harbored nearby. 'The Shady Side' title comes from several points of view. The afternoon light created shadows on the backside of the casino and the pathway to it. The pirate ship holds the peerception of dirty. shady pirates of long ago. Although this pirate ship is owned by a very kind man who had this junk ship restored to perfection. But the fable is there.
